A while back my family and I undertook to study the book of Daniel. We wanted to do an inductive study so we purchased a Kay Arthur study book on Daniel. That study was the beginning of preparat... |

Welcome to our Christian Living section - Our purpose in this section is to help Christians of today live an exemplary Christian life at home, at church, at work, and even during "play" time. This can be done by the use of "position papers" (stating our best understanding of a Biblical position on some subject of interest relevant to today's living.) They may not always be useful to you individually. You decide! We will show the Scriptural basis for the position in the papers written unless they were originally written for another venue. We may also use articles from others if they, for instance, state the subject so well we would have difficulty doing it any better. We will do our best to give you the whole article, but, if we can't for some reason, we will do our best to point you to where you can read the rest of the article.Living a truly Christian life will most often mean change. Too few of us today live truly "Christian" lives. In Philippians 3:13-14 Paul said, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." I have had to change many things in my life as I grew in the Lord. Some I was taught early but did not really incorporate in my daily life until later. Our prayer is that we can help change your perspective to a Biblical one where needed; in some cases even help you learn what a truly Biblical or Christian worldview is. In Hebrews 5:12-14 it says, "12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age (mature), even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." It is our desire that we all become Christians for whom it is no longer necessary to be fed "milk", but are "...skillful in the word of righteousness..."In a devotional book for men by Alexander Maclaren, he says, "Consider the sad contrast of too many Christian lives. There are many so-called and, in a fashion, really Christian people, to whom Christ and His work are mainly, if not exclusively, the means of escaping the consequences of sin - a kind of 'fire-escape'. And to very many it comes as a new thought, in so far as their practical lives are concerned, that these ought to be lives of steadily increasing deliverance from the love and power of sin, and steadily increasing appropriation and manifestation of Christ's granted righteousness. There are, I think, many of us from whom the very notion of progress has faded away." 2 Alexander Maclaren lived from 1826 to 1910 and yet his words seem to fit as much today as they did back then. Are you in need of changes? Is your church or place of worship? If Paul were alive today and wrote to you or your church, would he have to repeat what he said to the church at Corinth in I Corinthians 3:1-3, "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?"
