Daniel 11 - How Prophecy Became History

A while back my family and I undertook to study the book of Daniel. We wanted to do an inductive study so we purchased a Kay Arthur study book on Daniel. That study was the beginning of preparat... read more...

BIBLE STUDIES FORWARD
Welcome to our Bible Studies Area -

The study of God's Word is one of the most important activities of a Christian. A teacher I knew used to say, "If you are not learning, you are dying." Agatha Chrisie's character, Hercule Poirot, continually referred to the use of "the little gray cells". Paul said, in II Timothy 2:15, to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." In all these quotes is the theme of learning. That is the purpose of a Bible study - to learn about God and our relationship with Him and to learn how we should relate to those around us.

There are many places where you can get Bible studies. In fact, there are a couple noted in our "Links of Interest" area. We only desire to add to the places where you can get Bible studies and encouragement to study and learn about God & His Word.

Other than the reasons given in the first paragraph, why should you study God's Word? If you are a Christian, the first is that God, through Paul, told you to. In II Timothy 2:15 the statement is a command, not a request.

Another reason you should study the Bible is for your own self-interest. If you are living a Christian life in front of your co-workers, sooner or later one of them is going to ask you some questions. Wouldn't it be good to know the answers? Or would you rather be embarrassed? Secondly, when you're listening to a preacher, wouldn't it be good to know whether he or she is telling you the truth? Be a Berean! (Acts 17:10-11)

The third reason for studying the Word is that you will learn some very interesting things that you may not hear or read anywhere else. For instance, did you know there is a donkey that talked in the Bible? (Numbers 22) Did you know that there may be dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible? (Job 40 & 41) Look at their descriptions. The KJV refers to the animals as a "behemoth" and a "leviathan", but remember, the KJV was first translated in 1611 and the word "dinosaur" was not coined until 1841 by Sir Richard Owen and meant "terrible lizard" 4.
