About James (Jim) Truett Broadus
The Lord's often exhibited love gives me a deep desire to share what I know of Him with anyone who will listen. In 1994 I surrendered to God to preach whenever and wherever He wanted; however, it does not yet seem that He is ready for me to be ordained, so I'll use the term "lay-preacher". I've preached several sermons in churches, but I've "preached" more "at work" than in pulpits by sharing the reason for my joy, the reason for my patience, or the reason for whatever "good quality" anyone noticed and asked, "How do you...?" or "Why do you...?". I've learned from the Scriptures directly (by the Holy Spirit's teaching); from Kay Arthur studies; from preachers I've heard; and many other sources, but most important of all is reading the Bible DAILY and asking God for His understanding and wisdom.
The Scriptures were read daily when I was growing up and I was given "instruction in righteousness" even when I wasn't desirous of it. I have said for many years that "I have yet to meet a man who walked what he talked as well as my father." He wasn't perfect; he just strived diligently to live what he preached. This was my life example. His life, his preaching, and a song he used to sing gave me a deep desire to "...walk and talk with the King..."
Without Christ I'm nobody. I'm not a scholar; I'm only a student. As you read what is written in these web pages, please, be a Berean (Acts 17:10-12)! Check it out, always! If you differ, tell us why. We will do our best to back up what we write with Scripture. The Scripture is the "bottom line". It is truth above anything or anyone else. I literally believe God "whispered" (II Timothy 3:16) it to the men who penned it and His intent was for us to know Him. I share so we can both know Him more.
About Jonathan T. Broadus
I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 5. I've had the rare privilege of growing up with parents who loved each other and me very visibly, and have learned a great deal about life by observing them and others who have crossed my path.
I expend a considerable amount of time and energy on researching things that interest me, and put that same drive into writing papers such as my Homosexuality and Evolution papers, trying to get a deep understanding of the subject and then present it to the reader in a logical and well-reasoned manner.
